Abbreviations

Like many other disciplines, there is a fair bit of jargon used in outdoor recreational activities, land management, and conservation.  The table below has some of the abbreviations and acronyms that are used.  The categories are:

·        Category (“Cat”) 1 are mainstream abbreviations that are often seen

·        Cat 2 have local relevance for the area in which I live - Berkshire and SE England

·        Cat 3 are less important abbreviations but may crop up from time to time
